And behold! My illustrations are featured within!!

The Article I illustrated is called "the power of love"

And is about various womens' experiences of sex.

Now believe me, getting reference material for this one was tough.

One does not enjoy spending the day googling the words

"people having sex" and "dry humping" which is what I did.

In June, photographer Nick Ballon was invited to spend some time at the offices of MOTHER, an advertising agency based in Shoreditch, London. The inspiration of these photographs was a play on the Twitter limit of 140 characters per tweet. With this in mind his photographs capture the lively,hip environment of MOTHER, with the images also being typical to Ballons and use of a strong composition and selective colour palette.

Go and visit grandmother, who has been sick. Take her the oatcakes I've baked for her on the hearthstone and a little pot of butter.

The good child does as her mother bids - five miles' trudge through the forest; do not leave the path because of the bears, the wild boar, the starving wolves. Here, take your father's hunting knife; you know how to use it.

The child had a scabbby coat of sheepskin to keep out the cold, she knew the forest too well to fear it but she must always be on her guard. When she heard that freezing howl of a wolf, she dropped her gifts, seized her knife, and turned on the beast.

It was a huge one, with red eyes and running, grizzled chops; any but a mountaineer's child would have died of fright at the sight of it. It went for her throat, as wolves do, but she made a great swipe at it with her father's knife and slashed off its right forepaw.

The wolf let out a gulp, almost a sob, when it saw what had happened to it; wolves are less brave than they seem. It went lolloping off disconsolately between the trees as well as it could on three legs, leaving a trail of blood behind it. The child wiped the blade of her knife clean on her apron, wrapped up the wolf's paw in the cloth in which her mother had packed the oatcakes and went on towards her grandmother's house. Soon it came on to snow so thickly that the path and any footsteps, track or spoor that might have been upon it were obscured.

She found her grandmother was so sick she had taken to her bed and fallen into a fretful sleep, moaning and shaking so that the child guessed she had a fever. She felt the forehead, it burned. She shook out the cloth from her basket, to use it to make the old woman a cold compress, and the wolf's paw fell to the floor.

But it was no longer a wolf's paw. It was a hand, chopped off at the wrist, a hand toughened with work and freckled with old age. There was a wedding ring on the third finger and a wart in the index finger. By the wart, she knew it for her grandmother's hand.

She pulled back the sheet but the old woman woke up, at that, and began to struggle, squawking and shrieking like a thing possessed. But the child was strong, and armed with her father's hunting knife; she managed to hold her grandmother down long enough to see the cause of her fever. There was a bloody stump where her right hand should have been, festering already.

So! This is a fake comic cover for my final major project I've done about 4 of these covers all can be seen HERE!! But I thought this one deserved some Coloured Vapour exposure, as I'm really happy with the colour job I've done on it!!

This is 'Nidhogg' the serpent of the Norse underworld 'Nifelheim', along with countless other serpents and snakes and creatures of darkness it chews on the roots of the world tree 'Yggdrasil'. When not having a good gnaw on the world trees roots, it basically spends its time trading insults with the great eagle giant 'Hraesvelg' through a squirrel called 'Ratatosk' the gossiping bitch!

So you may have guessed that from these images I'm really loving Isometric Projection at the moment its great fun and the outcomes are really interesting. Also love how different these two are despite having the same principals for drawing them, interesting....

So the top image here is for a Poetry competition held by Seven Stories book shop in Newcastle the poem I chose is called Kinship and its by a chap called Alistair Robinson from his collection of poems Stereograms of the Dead, really happy with how this turned out.

The next image was my failed entry for the Lloyds TSB Art for Nurture competition, hence the cheesy slogan on the piece, I really enjoyed this one it was loads of fun to make but apparently both Lloyds and my tutors did not... oh well at least some peeps on my course got through! ENJOY!! :D

Short one day project completed today on the aphorism "No man is rich enough to buy back his past." from Oscar Wilde

I thought of alzheimers disease (and dementia in general) first, mainly as a disease that for want nor money science cannot (yet) cure.

Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia. This incurable, degenerative, terminal disease is characterised in the long term by confusion, irritability and aggression, mood swings, language breakdown, long term memory loss, and the general withdrawal of the sufferer as their senses decline.Gradually, bodily functions are lost, ultimately leading to death.

An article I had read previously reported on findings that 1% of world gross domestic product (GDP) (£388bn per annum) goes toward paying for the associated costs of dementia, and the number of dementia victims is set to double by 2030 and then triple by 2050.

I kind of thought that putting that kind of number, or a 'cost' on a person or group of people is a bit callous, especially with nothing to compare it to (say the cost of military spending worldwide which stands at £1012bn per annum from one figure I found).

I was reminded by some handy internet people of figures or numbers attached to old people in the past, namely the tattoos of the holocaust survivors (who also fall into the category of people who are at risk or are currently suffering from dementia).

Appropriating this symbol isn't entirely appropriate (no word play intended) but for the purposes of the exercise I think it got the point across well. I hope any people reading this of Jewish descent etc aren't offended, and understand my intentions.

Mapas//Maps has finally been published! Its got the piece from March in it, along with 52 artists from 23 different countries. You can flick through the entire book (or buy it!) here.

I really wish I had done a better job. Compared to all the other work it looks really dull and the typed page I included just doesn't fit with the rest of the book at all. Its a shame but never mind.
